Happy Easter/Joyeux Paques

My recent hiatus is on account of the fact that last Tuesday there was a huge electric storm, which triggered an electric surge, which in turn shorted our entire electric circuit and caused a fire in our water heater and main fuse box.  Thankfully we are all OK thanks to the rapid intervention of Stevie and Miriam, and our landlord was very supportive and arranged to have the entire house rewired.  Thanks to darling K we camped out at her house for a few nights. We are now a la maison, despite there being mess everywhere and some rooms still without electricity. The team of four electricians returns tomorrow and will hopefully finish then, and the gas should be reconnected on Tuesday... On verra ...

Things of note since my last post include the fact that on Thursday's round of golf J and I finished on even stevens :)  I had my flu shot; played tennis with J twice - in preparation for next weekend's tennis tournament; Tatoum went on the star jump for the first time; Babette had fun with her buddy Ellie, Thibaut survived a SAGS-free week; mums and daddo have said they will visit us again here ;-) I am blonde again - bye bye green hair; and Tatoum is making progress with her French: she has begun to identify basic images in one of her storybooks with the correct French words - last night she said "You proud of me mummy? Yes?...". You bet my lovely!

Yesterday we went to see Titanic in 3D - 10 years after its initial release, but now in 3D and digitally remastered.  In a week's time it will be 100 years after the desperate sinking of the vessel on its maiden voyage across the Atlantic, yet it remains one of the world's worst maritime disasters. This has been Thibaut's favourite movie for an eternity, yet he has never seen it on the Big screen - so we blindfolded him between leaving the car and sitting in the cinema! He couldn't believe it and thoroughly enjoyed his surprise.  Now my challenge is to charm the manager into letting me have the movie poster for the movie once they stop showing it... Could be a tricky feat?!

I had hoped to make the house look festive for Easter, but the lack of electricity put stop to that unfortunately. I bought chocolate, shredded wheat and mini eggs and Thibaut made delicious edible Easter nests.  We did an Easter Egg hunt in the garden, but we are still surrounded by mess, dust, pieces of wire and masonry, ladders and electricians everywhere so the magic has been lost. Oh and the garden was muddy... and Tatoum insisted on wearing her "Christmassy party dress" which thankfully appears not to be ruined, despite rummaging under bushes looking for chocolate eggies!

Looking for Eggs ...

Hooray found some!

And for old time's sake, some Vintage Easter cards... LOVE them :)

J is confusing us all as he is playing Fairytale of New York by The Pogues - a song about Christmas Day! his defence is there are no good Easter songs he knows...
