Curried Eggs anyone? and more....

My recent hiatus of blogging is on account of the effort I have been putting into raising funds for Wendy and The Nest and other related things, such as driving halfway across town to pick up expressed breast milk and delivering to Hospital or the orphanage, outreaching to companies to donate either in kind or money etc ....  I have raised over $1400 and paid off a fraction of the hospital bill, leaving an outstanding balance of 2.2 million Kenyan Shillings :(

I can't believe I haven't blogged in over two weeks - as I do love keeping my peeps up to date with what we are all doing here.

So latest is:  we have two new additions to our family..... Crouchy and Whitehead.  Really... that doesn't give any clues does it.  Well we now have a pair of Japanese Quails to add to our menagerie*, named after Thibaut's two favourite Stoke City football players?!  An hour after we brought them home on Sunday one had laid an egg - OMG you could have struck me down with a feather, Thibaut was already planning on having a roadside stall selling them - imagine "Freshly laid quails eggs, come and get 'em!".  Yet alas, none have been laid since, and it is now Thursday afternoon.  After the laying ceremony it seemed they were hungry so I was rummaging around the kitching looking for suitable nibbles for them - after googling what quails eat (mainly seeds and insects apparently) the only seeds I could find were mustard seeds and corriander and other seeds from Indian masala mix we had??@& I thought perhaps they might start laying curried eggs.... obviously not.

Little Tatoum had her three year check this week and the doctor noticed a minor heart murmur, which gave us all a fright, yet I am just back from seeing a paediatric cardiologist and he has confirmed it is an "innocent murmur" present in many young children and is not at all serious, in fact life should just continue as normal.

Big news is we are moving house on 1 July - to a house almost identical to ours, yet $1000 a month cheaper - it is on the same compound as ours and configuration is a little different, but hey, what not to like?

Thibaut played in a soccer competition last Saturday and scored a goal in the first minute :)  to say he was ecstatic is the understatement of the year, bless him.

We have finally booked our tickets for our summer vacation - 10 days in UK, where we have rented a 3 bedroom townhouse in Poole, followed by 10 days in New York, I can't wait, am super excited about both.

Babette is almost walking unaided now, just holding onto one finger as she toddles along grinning uncontrollably.

Today got a bootleg copy of Manhattan Murder Mystery - a hilarious Woody Allen noir comedy, can't wait to sit down and watch it with Johnnie a glass of wine tonight (after our weekly round of golf!).

*Two tortoises, One chicken, One bunny, and now two Japanese Quails!
