Coastal calling - Diani, Kenya, October 2012

With the coast only a mere 45-minute flight away from Nairobi, the beautiful Kenyan coastline is extremely accessible, even for a weekend.  The last week of October we spent the week in Diani, taking a nanny with us for the first time.  Oh my, what a difference that made.  We did not, however hop on the shuttle flight - we drove for almost 8 hours' in the car instead :(  but it wasn't so dreadful, and meant that once there we were mobile and could visit friends etc.  I felt like such a hypocrite, as when we first arrived here in Kenya and saw people holidaying with their nannies I thought it a tad strange, but after having taken Esther this past time, I wouldn't hesitate in taking someone with us.  On previous occasions, either J or I had to sit quietly in the room or on the balcony whilst one of our totos had their nap time; mealtimes were interspersed with feeding the children, changing them mid-meal, being splattered with food, or even losing them somewhere in the hotel grounds, unable to see any of the evening entertainment and unable to play tennis together.  For the first time, I came back from the coast relaxed and re-energised and after a successful night @ the casino, $500 better off, thanks to some lucky numbers on the roulette table!  The photos say it all, we had a fabulous time, let's not leave it too long 'til we meet again ;)
